fonti musicali is the natural extension of the activities of musician Claude Flagel and dance researcher Lou Flagel.
Their body of recordings and the research they have carried out both deserve public attention. Their first CD was made in 1988, although their first recordings made ‘in the field’ date from 1965.
Their collections TRADITIONS DU MONDE and ATELIER DANSE form the two main axes of their productions. High-quality recording equipment by Nagra Digital and microphones by Bruel & Kjær enable them to make recordings either in the musicians’ natural environment or in places where the acoustic suits the music to be recorded. Far from the constraints and above all from the costs of recording studios, there is as much time as there need be for creating an atmosphere of trust as well as a working pattern that is developed by both artists and production team.
The performers in these musical adventures are also deeply involved with the realisation of the CD; the finished product will always be in accord with what they expect and with the image that they wish to give of themselves and of their culture.
